Putin weaponizes the JFK story against the CIA

JFK’s assassination never goes away as a factor in American politics.

“There is a theory that Kennedy’s assassination was set up by the United States special services,” the Russian leader noted in his interview with Megyn Kelly.  “If this theory is correct, and one cannot rule it out, thus what can be easier in today’s situation, given the entire technical capabilities available to special services than to organize some kind of attacks in an appropriate manner while alluding to Russia in the process.”

How the CIA tried to implicate Castro in JFK’s assassination

Fidel Castro
Fidel Castro, tormenter of empire

The miracle was that Fidel Castro died in his own bed. Never has a defiant antagonist of the United States of America met a more unlikely fate: a peaceful death. Hated, reviled and targeted by the greatest military empire in the history of the world, Castro launched a one-party socialist experiment in Cuba, which was so antithetical to Washington’s vision of a neoliberal world order that the empire struck back hard.

The CIA and its paid agents began plotting Castro’s violent demise in 1959 and continued to do so through the year 2000, concocting hundreds of conspiracies to kill him, 638 times by one well-informed Cuban account. And the empire struck out every time.

I’m looking into a new JFK theory

I’m looking into these claims, which are ostensibly well-documented.

The never-before-revealed diaries of Douglas DeWitt Bazata, a decorated officer for the United States Office of Strategic Services — the forerunner of the Central Intelligence Agency — claim that his longtime close friend and fellow spy, René Alexander Dussaq, was a “primary organizer and plotter” of Kennedy’s assassination on Nov. 22, 1963.

Oliver Stone says ex-government agent told him ‘JFK assassination was an inside job’

Oliver Stone/Kevin Costner
Oliver Stone, right, with Kevin Costner on the set of ‘JFK”

Stone, 69, said his doubts about ‘Ron’ were dispelled. As a former marine in Vietnam, the film-maker was convinced by the ‘military jargon’ and intricate details within an account that he describes as ‘plausible’ and ‘very authentic’.

Unlike “JFK,”  the movie,” this allegation seems uncorroborated. “Military jargon” and “authentic” details do not constitute corroboration.

What Trump’s JFK theories reveal about the candidate

TrumpLee Harvey Oswald alone and unaided killed President Kennedy, according to Donald Trump–but Ted Cruz’s dad helped him do it.

In other words, Trump has no fixed opinion on who killed the 35th president of the United States. He is conspiratorial but he is not a conspiracy theorist. He says whatever serves his purposes in the moment, which is not to say his views are unimportant.

Gladwell’s folly: Did a Secret Service man shoot JFK?

What me worry about JFK?

No, he did not.

The “Secret Service Man Did It” theory is comic in its macabre ludicrousness. It would not be worthy of discussion, except that Bill James and Malcolm Gladwell, and now the Huffington Post, have taken it seriously.

JFK Second Shooter? New Documentary Makes Radical Claim,” the liberal site reported. The article quotes a couple of cable TV documentarians from the Reelz Channel insinuating, without evidence, that a Secret Service agent killed Kennedy. There is no comment from any historian or journalist who actually knows the record of JFK’s assassination. To date, more than 3,000 people have “liked” the HP story. I have submitted a correction without hope that it will ever be acknowledged.

I could blame Gladwell for this sorry display of public ignorance, but let’s stick to the facts: …

Insider Monkey doesn’t know squat about JFK

The business site offers 6 Conspiracy Theories About JFK’s Assassination. Four of the whodunnits are factually wrong  (Jackie, bodyguard, umbrella man, driver). and can be ignored. Two are worth discussing (Mafia and CIA). The Insider Monkey knows nothing about either interpretation.

So skip the Muddled Monkey. If you want to understand the JFK story, go to MaryFerrell.org, and click on ‘Starting Points’, then JFK Assassinaton
