  1. I was of the understanding that “Deep Throat” was an amalgam of intelligence and government contacts….?

  2. Felt was pissed because he didn’t get to be Director after Hoover died. Nothing more. Not a noble cause, not a man with a conscious. Just sour grapes.

    1. It’s a lot more complicated than that, David S. Felt, as McCord were loyal to their agencies, and believed strongly in the independence of their agencies. And Nixon believed all agencies should be controlled by him, personally, and used for his own political advantage. This came to a head in Watergate, where Nixon used his position as president to manipulate the CIA, FBI, and Justice Department into quashing an investigation into the criminal activities of his underlings. Sure, Nixon’s replacing Hoover and then Helms with political flunkies loyal to him personally had a lot to do with the behavior of Felt and McCord. But it was a symptom of what men like Felt and McCord considered the disease–an infection of the intelligence agencies and Justice Department spread by King Richard for political purposes.

    1. Yes “The whole bay of Pigs thing”. It’s right there on the Watergate tapes. Spoken on & written about by H.R. Haldeman. Nixon’s chief of staff who believed it was code for the JFK assassination. It seemed to stress out, then CIA boss Dick Helms when Nixon thru Haldeman used it to pressure Helms into influencing the Watergate investigation. I would Love to see a more public and deeper look at this. Doesn’t seem like this movie will do that.

      1. And all of that figured prominently in Oliver Stone’s Nixon movie, but that doesn’t seem to have made the impression that JFK did, even though in my opinion Nixon is just as profound a movie.

    2. “Maybe the movie will finally explain what Nixon meant by “that whole Cuban thing”.~Ronnie Wayne

I doubt if this project would have gotten beyond a rough draft for a script if any such issues were to be addressed in the film.
