PIDB member predicts most JFK documents will be released this year

Paul Noel Chretien is a retied CIA and Justice Department official who serves on the Public Interest Declassification Board (PIDB), which advises the White House on classification issues. In the Board’s March 30 online meeting Noel predicted that the “vast majority” of the 13,000-plus redacted JFK records will be declassified in their entirety by December 15, 2022.

It will be good news if President Biden and the CIA heed the urgings of the PIDB. Last fall, the board urged urged “maximum disclosure” of the remaining JFK records. In response the CIA and other agencies released about 10 percent of the still-secret records and maintained redactions in 90 percent of them.
