4 CIA lies: New JFK files show how assassination investigation was controlled, not ‘botched’

New JFK filesIn May 1964, top CIA officials stonewalled the official investigation of the murder of President John F. Kennedy by concealing or downplaying evidence about the Cuban contacts of the accused assassin, according to newly declassified documents.

The documents, released online last month by the National Archives, show how two CIA spymasters concocted a series of false and misleading statements that served to steer the Warren Commission investigation away from evidence that might point to a conspiracy.

The long-secret records, stamped with the words “Reproduction Prohibited,” shed new light on two key issues related to the death of JFK: 1) the agency’s plots to kill Cuban leader Fidel Castro at the time JFK was killed; and 2) the CIA’s pre-assassination knowledge of Lee Harvey Oswald, the 24-year-old ex-Marine, who was arrested for killing Kennedy.

The new files show the JFK investigation was not “botched” as Politico and NPR have reported. Rather, the documents show hwo the probe was controlled by two top CIA officials.

Attention CIA: the whole world expects full JFK disclosure

Time Magazine Year Ahead Thanks to the Internet, the media is finally paying attention.

Three days ago, it was Macleans, the Canadian newsweekly, which ran an article about the impending release of thousands of secret JFK records in October 2016. Today it is Time magazine, which reports

The tortured path that began with a left turn onto Dealey Plaza on Nov. 22, 1963, will find its unlikely end point this October in College Park, Md. At a National Archives annex, the last remaining documents related to the assassination of President John F. Kennedy are being processed, scanned and readied for release.

In 2015, it was Politico which explained “Why the last of the JFK files could embarrass CIA.” In 2013 it was Associated Press that reported, “5 decades later, me JFK probe files still sealed.”

The story is out there. It is undisputed. And it has nothing to do with the stupid JFK conspiracy theories peddled by hucksters like Alex Jones.

Thanks to the Mary Ferrell Foundation and WhoWhatWhy, anybody who wants to know can see a listing of all the JFK records that are supposed to be released on or before October 26, 2017. …

The RealClearPolitics polemic on Castro and JFK

The death of Fidel Castro continues to revive memories of and debate about JFK’s assassination.

This RealClearPolitics take on Castro and the Kennedy Assassination falters when author James Piereson asserts

Oswald’s motives in shooting President Kennedy were almost certainly linked to his desire to block Kennedy’s campaign to assassinate Castro or to overthrow his government.

There is little evidence to support this claim.

How the CIA tried to implicate Castro in JFK’s assassination

Fidel Castro
Fidel Castro, tormenter of empire

The miracle was that Fidel Castro died in his own bed. Never has a defiant antagonist of the United States of America met a more unlikely fate: a peaceful death. Hated, reviled and targeted by the greatest military empire in the history of the world, Castro launched a one-party socialist experiment in Cuba, which was so antithetical to Washington’s vision of a neoliberal world order that the empire struck back hard.

The CIA and its paid agents began plotting Castro’s violent demise in 1959 and continued to do so through the year 2000, concocting hundreds of conspiracies to kill him, 638 times by one well-informed Cuban account. And the empire struck out every time.
