I hope this movie accurately portrays Jackie’s nearly miraculous work on the White House and D.C. The Eisenhower’s left the place a dump, both the residence and the city. She pulled all kinds of art out of the basement, refurbished it, and made an art museum out of the place. Beautiful old buildings in Washington were saved and restored due to Jackie’s influence.
And the couture, culture, music, and state dinners she brought to the People’s House is enough for several movies. An ambassador here and abroad.
Please, please, I hope they include Ike’s most atrocious slovenliness–he was too lazy to take off his spiked golf shoes, hardly ever, when he came in and walked all over these historic hardwood floors. The Kennedys had them refinished, but as much as they sanded them down, they could not remove the holes he put in all that beautiful workmanship.
