AP story on the CIA’s JFK files gets picked up all over

The demand for JFK transparency spans the political spectrum, the continental United States, and even the Atlantic Ocean

Over the weekend, the liberal Huffington Post and the conservative Pittsburgh Tribune-Review  picked up the Associated Press story on the CIA’s sealed JFK assassination files.

So did the Washington Post on the East Coast and St. Paul Pioneer Press in the Midwest.

So did the reliably libertarian LewRockwell.com (“anti-state, anti-war, pro-market”), the relentlessly mainstream WFAA (the ABC-TV affiliate in Dallas where JFK fibber Bill O’Reilly once worked), and the aggressively tabloid Daily Mail in the United Kingdom.

  1. Interesting report in todays paper of the arrest of Musharraf for facilitating murder and other charges in death of political foe:

“Bhutto was killed in 2007 during a gun and bomb attack at a rally in the city of Rawalpindi, the sister city to the capital of Islamabad. Prosecutors have said Musharraf, who was president at the time, failed to properly protect her.”

Well, even a country as corrupt and as divided as Pakistan takes the killing of a public official seriously. They asked cui bono? and they don’t blindly accept the first flash reports of a loner.
USA instead of telling everyone else how to behave, ought to look east for some guts.

  2. The Roger Stone book: “The Man Who Killed Kennedy” is about to reveal things even the CIA doesn’t know about. A former aide in the Nixon Whitehouse, Stone gleaned many hints as to what really happened in Dallas and why and then conducted the most extensive research on record to provide names, facts and figures. In a review by the National Enquirer they described the information in the Stone book as “history changing.” While the book will not be released until November 4th, it can be preordered at Amazon.

  3. Great work Jeff, on helping get the story published in the mainstream news media. The bigger questions is if Oswald was such a loner, why was there such high level CIA interest in him before the assassination? Looks like to me, he might have been a legitimate intelligence asset. He may have been “hijacked” or the CIA out maneuvered. Could persons such as the mob, Bill Harvey, David Morales, John Martino, etc. have run a vest pocket JFK assassination operation? If they knew Oswald had a legitimate CIA with the JFK Assassination, they knew the CIA would have to coverup the agency’s relationship with Oswald, even though the agency was not directly involved in the assassination.

  4. I can’t help but wonder why the Soviet Union & China haven’t joined in? Cuba & Venezuela seem to be quiet on Jeff Morley’s crusade to obtain the CIA documents too. Perhaps they have them already?
Some equate trying to get info from the CIA is the same as asking a suspected killer to tell you where the murder knife is or who put the toddler in the plastic bag & dumped her? The get an honest answer implicates the answerer as the killer.
If the CIA has been replaced by a new generation of people that had nothing to do with the JFK assassination, releasing what happened before their present career tenures began would be taken as an act of good faith & I believe the public would not harbor grudges. They’d see it as blaming your 2nd or 3rd spouse for dirty deeds committed by the first one, which just isn’t fair in anybody’s book.
The more I have learned about Operation Mongoose, Operation 40 & ZR/RIFLE & the active efforts in motion to ambush & kill Fidel Castro & others in his government I can’t understand how LHO survived his street leaflets hand-out & the Latin Listening Post radio interviews in August 1963 unless his actions were bait to entice true Castro groupies.
Perhaps this is why the CIA has locked horns with Jeff Morley & his attorney & is dragging its feet honoring the request US law dictates the CIA must honor?
Both Jeff Morley & his attorney have true grit to lock horns with the Agency, I’d be especially careful around anyone carrying an umbrella…
    Just sayin’ 🙂

  5. I want to believe that this particular story, lifting its sails at this particular moment, has the potential to pick up a huge gust of wind that is the current scrutiny on governmental secrecy (NSA and Snowden).
Barack Obama could seize this moment to fulfill his promise to make this administration “the most transparent ever.” Showcasing the potential for abuse of power with the detention of Glenn Greenwald’s partner, while simultaneously helping release documents (Joannides)that perhaps may help lead to a better understanding of THE ULTIMATE abuse of power (the assassination President John F. Kennedy and subsequent coverup), could go a long way to help correct the ship after veering a bit (okay – WAY) off course during the Cold War and post-9/11.
Either the current actions of the Obama Administration are completely incompetent when it comes to controlling the message – or they are showing political genius to highlight them in this way. After all, actions by the President to dismantle what was built under George W Bush are ineffective with an uncooperative Congress (see Guantanamo) and potentially politically suicidal – being soft on terror – and then the scapegoat when a future attack happens (which it will, regardless of these programs existing or not). Could the president be using right-wing hatred of him to actually move forward his visions (or at least what a large portion of America understood them to be in 2008 via speeches, campaign promises, etc) and become “the most transparent administration ever?” After all – defense money was the best predictor of the Amash Amendment vote – not political affiliation.
I hope that this story picks up some wind now – before the 50th Annivesary, because who knows the next time (if ever) it will be so visible.
    Keep up the good work.
