In the Soviet Union banned publications and writings that circulated privately were known as “samizdat” (Russian for “I self-publish”). Now that History Channel’s “JFK Declassified” has been taken off the air for unknown reasons, we must rely on samizdat reports to learn about what we cannot see.

Thanks to everybody who has been bombarding History Channel and A&E with questions. No one received anything but a spam answers. So the mystery endures. We still have no explanation of why the History Channel’s “JFK Declassified” series was taken off the air after two episodes, at least in the United States.
Was it poor ratings? Did the show’s “Castro Sorta Done It” semi-conspiracy theory offended somebody in high places? Why is the series available to Canadians only. We’re still looking for answers.

The History Channel’s upcoming documentary series, “JFK Declassified: Tracking Oswald” sounds enticing. A videogenic and decorated former CIA operations officer Robert Baer revisits the secret intelligence dimensions of the assassination of President John F. Kennedy.
Baer is not the worst choice for a guide to the JFK story. He is an incisive commentator on CIA affairs, and no apologist. He rejects torture and expresses skepticism on drones. He comes across as a thinking man’s intelligence officer. (The fact that George Clooney played Baer in the movie Syriana gives him a whiff of Cool Liberal cologne.) Read more
